The Gallery of Solitary Beings

The Gallery of Solitary Beings

Based on The Stereoscope of Solitary Beings by Juan Rodolfo Wilcock
An installation featuring 14 triptychs

This portrait gallery is a way of appropriating the wonderfully strange world of Juan Rodolfo Wilcock. A selection of characters who inhabit Wilcock’s brief surrealist fables and mythological short stories are “portrayed” in accordance with a rebellious spirit and a deeply theatrical sensibility. It is about extraordinary beings who are “condemned to the ordinary, to whims, insane peculiarities and moments of chaos” (Rodolfo Wilcock). This project is offered in association with the show The Stereoscope of Solitary Beings but can exist in its own right as an installation.
